CHESTNUT HILL, Mass., May 27, 2016 — The Roche Center for Catholic Education congratulates Dr. Hosffman Ospino, assistant professor of theology and education at the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry, for receiving the 2016 Catechetical Award from the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership (NCCL). Dr. Ospino (socio de SCALA) was recognized for his “dedicated service to the Catholic Church with ongoing pioneering spirit and innovative vision in the ministries of catechesis and evangelization.” Dr. Ospino is co-author, along with Roche Center Executive Director Dr. Patricia Weitzel-O’Neill, of “Catholic Schools in an Increasingly Hispanic Church,” an innovative report published in March 2016 on the findings of the National Survey of Catholic Schools Serving Hispanic Families. The survey and the report explore how Catholic schools can partner with Hispanic families better to educate the next generation of Hispanic Catholics in our schools.
